Duties and Responsibilities
- The intern shall undertake the following duties which may include, but are not limited to:
- Prepare partner letters for call for nominations.
- Assist in the follow up and compiling of nominations received from partner focal points.
- Prepares information notes to selected vetted nominees as per the implementation schedule.
- Prepare travel approvals of meeting participants, consultants and individual contractors.
- Prepare survey feedback forms of trainings conducted and analyse the data.
- Work closely with the graphic designer on the development of visibility materials, distribution and storage of the same.
- Support training workshops and development of training materials and merchandise.
- Support in awareness campaigns under the Transnational Organized Crime and Illicit Trafficking Programme.
- Assist in tracking of vendor invoices and effectively communicating on the progress of payments.
- Follow up with vendors and meeting participants on matters related to banking details and HR mini master forms. • Any other duties as assigned may be assigned by the Supervisor; and • Perform other tasks, as necessary.
Qualifications/special skills
To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met: Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
- Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher).
- Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent).
- Have graduated with a university degree and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one-year period of graduation. Must have studied international relations, Communication, international studies, or any other related field. Additionally, the applicants must have the following attributes:
- Be computer literate in standard software applications.
- Possess good report writing skills.
- Demonstrate good organizational and pleasant interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrate interest in issues related to environmental sustainability.
- Have demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
- Have a keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter. No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme.
