The Tipper Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of company tipper trucks to transport waste and recyclables tdesignated sites. The role involves adherence ttraffic regulations, proper handling of materials, vehicle care and maintenance, and ensuring timely and accurate deliveries in line with company standards.
Key Responsibilities.
Driving & Transport Operations
- Operate tipper trucks tcollect and transport waste/recyclables.
- Follow designated routes and schedules as instructed.
- Ensure safe loading, transportation, and offloading of materials.
Vehicle Care & Maintenance
- Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
- Report any faults, damages, or maintenance needs.
- Maintain vehicle cleanliness and good working condition.
Compliance & Safety
- Adhere strictly ttraffic rules and company transport policies.
- Ensure all safety equipment (PPE, fire extinguisher, first aid kit) is in place.
- Report any accidents or incidents immediately.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate trip logs, mileage, and fuel usage records.
- Ensure delivery notes and transport documents are completed correctly.
- Assist in reconciling material volumes with supervisors.
Qualifications.
- KCSE Certificate or equivalent.
- Valid Kenyan driving license Class C/E (Commercial Heavy Vehicles).
- Defensive driving certification is an added advantage.
- AGE: 35 years and above
- Minimum three (3) years’ experience driving tipper or heavy commercial vehicles.
- Experience in waste management or construction transport preferred.
- Demonstrated record of safe driving and accident-free history.
- Business Understanding
- Familiarity with Nairobi and regional road networks.
- Basic knowledge of waste handling procedures and safety regulations.
Knowledge and Skills
- Ability tspeak English fluently.
- Excellent driving skills with a strong focus on road safety.
- Ability tcarry out basic mechanical checks and report faults.
- Time management and route planning skills.
- Physical fitness and ability tload/unload when required.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
