Key Duties and Responsibilities:
The successful Nursing Officer on locum, will be expected to;
- Ensure patient needs are met; treatment, safety, nutrition and overall nursing care.
- Maintain proper continuity of care at take-over, bed-side handover of reports, and at referral point, ensuring that their communication is clear at all times.
- Ensure that all equipment are in good working condition and in case of malfunction report immediately to the supervisor
- Maintain availability of minimum stock of commodities and supplies to ensure optimal provision of services in the department
- Coordinate with other sections in the provision of care such as the laboratory, Laundry, Pharmacy, Records and Clinical
- Provide support and health education to patients and relatives
- Ensure aseptic technique and infection prevention is adhered to at the facility – disinfection and sterilization of medical equipment, medical and general waste management.
- Perform any other duties as maybe assigned from time to time by the supervisor.
Persons Specifications
For appointment to this post, a candidate must;
- Be holders of a diploma or degree in Nursing from a recognized Institution.
- Be registered with the National Nursing Council of Kenya (NNCK)
- Have a valid practicing license from National Nursing Council of Kenya (NNCK).
- Have a working experience of at least 2 years.
- Be computer literate.

- Excellent clinical accuracy
- Excellent customer service skills
- Effective communication skills- listening, oral and written
- Good interpersonal skills and team player
- Empathetic to patients of all ages
- Ability to work under pressure with minimum supervision

TERMS OF SERVICE
The Terms of service for these positions will be on Part Time Basis.
PAYMENT
Will be based on the required teaching/practical contact hours with the students per programme as listed below;
- Certificate Programme – Kes. 800/= for one (1) instructional hour or two (2) contact hours in a tutorial design or open-learning designed – session, examined and results submitted.
- Diploma Programme – Kes. 1,000/= for one (1) instructional hour or two (2) contact hours in a tutorial design or open-learning designed – session, examined and results submitted.
- Technologists – Kes. 1,200/= for three (3) contact hours in a laboratory-designed or practicum session or five (5) contact hours in farm or similar practice, examined and results submitted.
- Undergraduate Programme – Kes. 1,200/= for one (1) instructional hour or two (2) contact hours in a tutorial design or open-learning designed – session, examined and results submitted.
- Masters Programme – Kes. 1,500/= for one (1) instructional hour or two (2) contact hours in a tutorial design or open-learning designed – session, examined and results submitted.
- PhD Programme – Kes. 1,800/= for one (1) instructional hour or two (2) contact hours in a tutorial design or open-learning designed – session, examined and results submitted.
