- A Montessori teacher is responsible for guiding and facilitating learning experiences in a classroom setting based on the Montessori Method, which emphasizes self-directed learning and hands-on activities. The teacher helps to create a prepared environment that supports and encourages independence, exploration, and discovery.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in education with a concentration in early childhood education
- Certification in Montessori education
- Experience in a Montessori environment
- Experience with keeping the environment safe and conducive to learning
- Knowledge of Montessori materials and techniques
- Knowledge of child development and psychology
- Ability to work effectively with children and parents from diverse backgrounds
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Implement the curriculum and Montessori philosophy
- Develop and implement lesson plans that align with the Montessori Method and meet individual student needs
- Design and prepare a stimulating and organized environment for learning
- Observe and track student progress, and provide ongoing feedback to students and parents
- Encourage independence and decision-making skills in students
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians about student progress and overall classroom activities
- Assist in scheduling, maintaining, and updating school records
