Job Description
Basic Salary Scale: Ksh 50,610 – Ksh 67,110 p.m. House Allowance: Kshs. 16,500 p.m Commuter Allowance: Ksh 8,000 p.m. Leave Allowance: As provided in the Civil Service Annual Leave: 30 working days per financial year Medical Cover: As provided by the Government Terms of Service: Four (4) years Contract
Requirement for Appointment
- Be a Kenyan Citizen
- Have served in the grade of Senior Public Communications Officer or in a comparable and relevant position in the Public Service for a minimum period of three (3) years;
- Be a holder of a Bachelor’s Degree from a University recognized in Kenya in any of the following: Public Relations, Journalism, Media Studies/Science, Information Science or a related field.
- Have a clear understanding of the working of the media and the socio-political environment in Kenya;
- Possess good oral and written communication skills both English and Kiswahili;
- Possess advanced computer skills; and
- Have shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results
- Have minimum Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations/ Media Communication
- At least three (3) years relevant experience
Duties and responsibilities
- Coordinate all public relations activities including publishing of brochures, handbooks and flyers
- Updating the County website in liaison with the IT section; Portray a positive public image of the County;
- Coordinating outreach programmes with various stakeholders; Prepare press-release to media stories and ensure proactive media reporting via the available channels;
- Have initiative and drive and excellent interpersonal skills to handle various interest groups;
- Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
