Responsibilities
As an Inventory Controller, you will play a crucial role in managing the inventory operations with a focus on cost accounting, meticulous stock-taking, and efficient reporting of dispatch and receipt of goods. Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Key Responsibilities:
- Cost Accounting: Monitor and control inventory costs through accurate recording, tracking, and analysis of inventory movements. Collaborate with the finance department to ensure accurate cost allocation and reporting.
- Stock Taking: Conduct regular physical inventory counts to reconcile physical stock levels with system records. Implement cycle counting procedures to maintain inventory accuracy and minimise discrepancies.
- Inventory Management: Optimise inventory levels to meet production requirements while minimising carrying costs and stock-outs. Coordinate with production, procurement, and warehouse teams to ensure adequate stock availability.
- Reporting: Generate timely and accurate reports on inventory levels, stock movements, and variances. Analyse inventory data to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement. Prepare insightful reports for management review.
- Dispatch and Receiving: Oversee the dispatch and receiving process to ensure timely and accurate handling of goods. Coordinate with logistics partners to schedule shipments, track deliveries, and resolve any issues or delays.
- Process Improvement: Continuously identify opportunities to streamline inventory processes, enhance efficiency, and reduce costs. Implement best practices and standard operating procedures to optimise inventory control operations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
- A minimum of 2 year experience in the industry
- Professional certifications i.e. CPA minimum section 2
- Proven experience in inventory management, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of cost accounting principles and inventory valuation methods.
- Proficiency in inventory management software and Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping and stock-taking.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
