Regional Sales Manager Job At Grant Thornton


Our client SSAB is a Nordic and US-based steel manufacturing company. SSAB offers value added products and services developed in close cooperation with its customers to create a stronger, lighter and more sustainable world. SSAB has employees in over 50 countries and has production facilities in Sweden, Finland and the US.

They are seeking to recruit a highly ambitious candidate to fill the following position:


Job Summary

Reporting to the Area Sales Manager, the Regional Sales Manager will develop sales and growth plans towards existing and new customers in a defined geographical area in Kenya.

Main Responsibilities of Job

  • Independently set up sales presentations, contracts and proposals;
  • Negotiate offer including prices and delivery times and other terms within limits of authority;
  • Contribute to the strategy development in the Sales Area. Implement the strategy independently and in teams to reach short and medium term strategic goals;
  • Secure yearly sales and marketing targets with existing and potential customers;
  • Identify upgrading opportunities in the field and call for relevant resources to convert these opportunities into business;
  • Do the job safely at all times, share relevant risk observations with the organisation and help colleagues to act safely;
  • Develop strategic goals for the Sales Area together with the ASM and TDM and break down these into relevant;
  • Plan and execute the work on medium and short term to implement the ASM Area strategy. Hold customer meetings 4 days per week and 1 day for follow-up, reporting and planning;
  • Develop new leads and opportunities for upgrading to Special Steel. Focus in the segments selected in the strategy and in the X-days segments;
  •  Contribute to continuously improve the sales processes in line with the SSAB One principles;
  • Plan and document all relevant customer activities in Salesforce to share the customer history and new updates with the rest of the account team;
  • Develop sustainable business with respect to SSAB’s code of conduct and ensure that our business partners, including new and existing customers are meeting the same high standards in terms of sanctions, human rights and business ethics;
  • Respond to customer enquiries; Identify, research, and contact prospective customers and build positive relationships; and
  • Refer customer feedback, and information on competitor activity to appropriate contacts within the company;

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • University degree or equivalent, in Business Administration, Economics or Engineering or a relevant technical field;
  • At least 3 years’ relevant work experience in the mining equipment, heavy moving vehicles, metal equipment or related manufacturing industries;
  • Excellent presentation, communication and negotiation skills both in English and Kiswahili;
  • Direct selling skills;
  • In-depth market knowledge and ability to develop relationships with key leaders in target organisations;
  • Good understanding of core business areas including sales, finance, logistics, safety and strategic ability.
